PFT: Vick likes to be the inspiration for RGIII

The Lions announced on Monday that they?ll be terminating the contract of cornerback Aaron Berry.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the Lions also officially waived Berry on Monday.

As a result, all other teams have the ability to submit a waivers claim for Berry?s contract by 4:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday.

Undrafted in 2010, Berry is due to earn a base salary of $465,000 in 2012, the final year of his current contract.? Thus, it?s a low risk, financially, to add him to the roster.? (From a P.R. standpoint, it could be a problem.)

And as we scan the standings for teams that may be interested, one that jumps out is the Buffalo Bills.? New defensive coordinator Dave Wannstedt recruited Berry out of high school to attend Pitt.

Of course, if Wannstedt isn?t willing to give one of his former college players a second (or, technically, third) chance, maybe that tells the rest of the league all it needs to know.

The Vikings have a clear need at the cornerback position, but it would be very difficult for the Vikings to justify adding another problem child to the mix, even if they ask Governor Mark Dayton to come up with the formal explanation for the move.
