Those issues were master leases, warranties, ensuring you understand the different between capital leases and operating leases, asset registration issues, taxes, and return requirements. So that's it right?

But wait, as the fellow on TV says, ' there's more! Let's examine some other key issues you probably need to consider to ensure that confidence that comes with knowing you have entered into a win/ win transaction with a lessor of assets.

One of those is maintenance, meaning that you need to ensure you understand your written obligations on maintaining the asset in good working order. This becomes even more important when you in fact have the intention or obligation of returning the asset in question.

Insurance becomes our 2nd issues to ensure you consider. You will often be required to produce a certificate of insurance which names your lessor partner as beneficiary in case of loss, theft, damage, etc. That's just common sense of course, given they are financing the asset.

Thirdly, in certain cases you might want to ensure your lease specifies you have the right to assign the transaction to a third or related party. Naturally you want to ensure this right, if required, is not 'unreasonably withheld ' as the lawyers say.

You may also wish to address the area of location to ensure you have the right to move the leased asset to another location, perhaps a branch plant or other office, etc.

Finally, in the case of say technology assets, i.e. computers, telecom assets, etc, make sure you clearly understand what can be added to or removed from the asset. In our tech example a good example might be software or additional disk drives, etc.

For thousands of world-class athletes, a passport is something they can't forget to pack before heading off to London for the summer Olympic games. But for a few athletes, a different kind of passport is keeping them out of competition entirely.

A new anti-doping program known as the athlete biological passport (ABP), which looks for indirect evidence that an athlete has cheated, is being implemented by several international sports authorities. Already the testing scheme, developed by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), has ensnared world-class athletes?and survived a challenge to its validity.

The London Olympics mark the first summer games in which the ABP will be in use alongside traditional drug screenings. And for competitors in sports that have taken up the program, such as cycling and track and field, dreams of Olympic glory will depend on their test results?past and present.

Rather than screening an athlete's blood or urine samples for traces of banned substances right before or after a competition, testers using the ABP scheme compare samples with an athlete's baseline profile, as determined by multiple tests over time. In the absence of a legitimate physiological explanation, such as an illness or a natural response to changing altitude, variations in an athlete's biological samples can reveal wrongdoing even if the specific doping agent or process remains undetected. For instance, a sudden change in the number of reticulocytes, or immature blood cells, might provide indirect evidence that an athlete has used erythropoietin (EPO), a hormone that stimulates the generation of red blood cells and boosts the oxygen-carrying capacity of the blood. Similar tests can assess levels of the respiratory pigment hemoglobin, which can also reveal instances of blood manipulation to enhance oxygen transport.

"In this way, the athlete becomes his own reference point," says WADA medical director Alan Vernec. "Otherwise you're forever chasing after new types of substances or agents that are being developed."

So far the biological passport has been applied primarily to detect instances of blood doping, but the same strategy could be used on urine samples to identify users of anabolic steroids. Nevertheless, the ABP is unlikely to supplant conventional testing schemes that detect prohibited molecules, such as steroids or human growth hormone, in blood and urine. Anti-doping experts view the passport approach as a complement to such tests, which continue to catch athletes breaking the rules.

Indeed, conventional testing still plays a significant role in cycling, the first major sport to sign on to WADA's passport approach. In the highest-profile recent case, Spanish cyclist Alberto Contador was issued a two-year suspension and stripped of his 2010 Tour de France win after a sample that year tested positive for clenbuterol, which WADA classifies as an anabolic agent.

The International Cycling Union (UCI), suffering from a severe credibility problem, adopted the ABP in 2008, collecting about 10 blood samples each from more than 800 riders over the course of the year. But implementation of the ABP has not been without twists and turns. Cyclist Franco Pellizotti, who raced for Italy in the 2008 Olympics, was suspended in 2010 for irregularities in his blood profile that indicated "enhancement of oxygen transfer." But the rider was soon exonerated by the Italian Olympic committee, which held that the evidence against Pellizotti was insufficient to prove his guilt.

The cycling union appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Switzerland, which last year overturned the Italian committee's decision and reinstated Pellizotti's two-year ban from cycling. The court also upheld a two-year ban for Italian rider Pietro Caucchioli; the cyclist's variations in hemoglobin concentration over a span of several months, the court ruled, "could not be considered as physiological" and hence demonstrated doping to enhance the blood's oxygen-carrying capacity.

Mobile shoppers are proving to be more valuable to retailers and brands across an array of measurements, including demonstrating less price-sensitivity, according to a new study from Greystripe.

The July Mobile Retail Insights report takes a look at the differences between mobile shoppers and traditional in-store shoppers and finds mobile shoppers exhibit behaviors that characterize them as more profitable, more influential and more likely to buy when given an interface that is easy to use. The results are just one more reason retailers and retail brands should be focusing on mobile.

?As mobile devices become a consumer?s primary digital life link, marketers have an opportunity to engage those customers with an experience that drives real value for a brand,? said Kurt Hawks, general manager at Greystripe, San Francisco.

?Mobile is key throughout all stages of the purchasing process, allowing consumers to research products, make mobile purchases, and share product reviews post-purchase,? he said.

?Mobile shoppers are a highly appealing audience for retailers in that they are less price sensitive.??They can also be highly influential ? a higher percentage write reviews about their product experience.?

Product evangelists
Key findings from the study include that mobile shoppers demonstrate less price sensitivity than traditional shoppers, with 71 percent redeeming coupons offered by retailers compared to 94 percent of traditional shoppers.

Additionally, mobile shoppers are more likely to act as a product evangelist, with 49 percent routinely writing reviews about their product experiences compared to only 31 percent of traditional shoppers

Mobile shoppers are also most likely to buy based on ease of use, with 51 percent stating they prefer applications and 49 percent stating they prefer Web sites.

Entertainment is the top purchasing category in mobile, with 52 percent of mobile and traditional shoppers stating they have made an entertainment purchase from their device.

Other findings include that 54 percent of mobile shoppers are most likely to use their device to research products when shopping, whereas 58 percent of traditional shoppers are most likely to compare prices.

Additionally, 37 percent of mobile shoppers visit a brand?s Web site or application first when seeking product information versus 28 percent of traditional shoppers.

For the study, Greystripe surveyed 800 iPhone, Android and tablet users between May and June of this year. Mobile shoppers were defined as those respondents who say they prefer to make purchases via their devices.

End-to-end mobile strategy
The study highlights the role mobile can play in influencing traditional shoppers? purchasing decisions. ?For example, retailers can incorporate coupons for in-store redemption into their mobile campaigns.

Retailers can also use full-screen ads to provide more product information via a larger canvas so that in-store buyers ? who use mobile to conduct product research before making in-store purchases ? are getting more information about the product from the campaign itself.

?Retailers need to consider an end-to-end mobile strategy that encompasses all aspects of the purchasing process,? Mr. Hawks said.

?Reaching users on mobile with an interface that is easy to use allows retailers to facilitate product research, mobile purchases and provide customers with coupons for in-store redemption,? he said.

?There?s a real opportunity to drive purchasing on mobile devices and in stores.?

U.S. sets duties on washers from Mexico, South Korea

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Commerce Department on Monday set preliminary anti-dumping duties on about $1 billion worth of residential washing machines from Mexico and South Korea in a case brought by American manufacturer Whirlpool.

The department estimated Mexico manufacturers were selling the washers in the United States at prices 33.30 percent to 72.41 percent below fair value. It said South Korean producers were undercutting prices by 9.62 percent to 82.41 percent.

In an odd twist, one of the two Mexican manufacturers hit with the 72.41 percent preliminary duty was Whirlpool itself.

Whirlpool said in a statement it has stopped shipping washers from Mexico for sale in the United States and therefore would not face any duties.

The company said it has made significant investments at its Clyde, Ohio plant and expects nearly 100 percent of the washers its sells in the United States will be American-made by 2013.

"Whirlpool is committed to building products in the regions where they are sold and investing in our U.S. manufacturing presence. Our investments will continue as long as we can compete on a level playing field, with all of our foreign competitors playing by the established rules," company spokeswoman Kristine Vernier said.

U.S. Democratic Senator Sherrod Brown hailed the decision, which he said would help restore a level playing field for the century-old American manufacturer.

"If we want to encourage companies like Whirlpool to continue moving jobs back to the U.S., then we also have to get tough on countries that don't play by the rules," Brown said.

Washers made by Electrolux and Samsung in Mexico were hit with a preliminary anti-dumping duties of 33.30 percent and 72.41 percent, respectively.

Washers made by Daewoo, LG Electronics and Samsung in South Korea received preliminary anti-dumping duties of 82.41 percent, 12.15 percent, and 9.62 percent, respectively.

Samsung and Electrolux said they disagreed with the decision and would continue to fight the duties.

In a similar case involving refrigerators from Mexico and South Korea, the U.S. International Trade Commission struck down duties imposed by the Commerce Department on the grounds that Whirlpool was not materially injured by the imports.

Caryn Klebba, a spokeswoman for Electrolux, said its share of the laundry machine market in the United States was only 5.6 percent compared to Whirlpool's 56 percent, giving the company hope the ITC would rescue them again.

Samsung said it no longer makes washers in Mexico so it also would not be affected by those preliminary duties.

Importers have to post bonds or cash deposits based on the preliminary rates. In Daewoo's case, the required cash deposit will be slightly less than the preliminary duty rate, the Commerce Department said.

The United States imported some $434 million of residential washers from Mexico and $568 million from South Korea in 2011.

The Commerce Department in May also set a preliminary "countervailing duty" of nearly 71 percent on washers made by Daewoo in South Korea to offset government subsidies.

LG and Samsung received duties of just 0.22 percent and 1.20 percent, respectively, in that phase of case.

A final decision on both types of duties is expected by the end of the year.

Toshiba slips into the red as latest earnings reveal $153 million loss

Toshiba's most recent fiscal results (the first of its 2012 financial year) show that while the company pulled in $16 billion in turnover, it slumped to a $154 million loss for the last three months. While its "social infrastructure" unit (power plants, LED light bulbs and radiation detectors) generated a $107 million profit, the consumer electronics and white-goods sectors continued to lose sales. The company attributes the loss to further restructuring costs as well as pointing an accusatory digit toward the European financial crisis and concerns about power generation capacity in Japan. Despite the gloom, the company says that it still expects to hit a target of $81 billion turnover and $3.8 billion profit before March 2013.

Android Market Share In The U.S. - Business Insider

Google's Android market share may have peaked in the U.S., according to a Strategy Analytics report via TechCrunch.

Last quarter Android's U.S. smartphone share was 56.3% of all sales, down from 60.6% a year prior. Meanwhile, the iPhone's share came in at 33.2%, up from 23.2% the year prior.

This is an impressive gain for Apple, especially considering the company sold fewer iPhones than expected.

LONDON (AP) ? An appearance by the hapless comic character Mr. Bean was one of the highlights of the London Olympics opening ceremony. Yet a series of Keystone Cops moments has games organizers hoping they don't keep up this slapstick routine in real life.

London police acknowledged Monday that last week they lost a set of keys to Wembley ? one of the most famous soccer stadiums in the world and an Olympic venue in London ? and had been forced to hastily change the stadium locks.

It was the latest unintentionally comic moment to beset the games and has raised fears of what else may be in store.

News of the lock debacle followed a diplomatic tiff with India, triggered when a woman who was not part of the country's athletic delegation marched right beside India's flag bearer at Friday's opening ceremony.

Olympic officials insisted there was no security risk from either incident. Games chief Sebastian Coe said the Indian team's interloper was an accredited cast member from the opening ceremony who "got slightly over-excited."

Police said the Wembley keys appeared to have been lost rather than stolen and "measures were taken immediately to secure all key areas of the venue."

Earlier Olympic glitches ranged from worrying to merely embarrassing.

Security arrangements were thrown into chaos weeks before the opening ceremony when private security contractor G4S acknowledged it would not be able to provide all the guards it had promised. Thousands of soldiers, sailors and air force personnel ? some just back from Afghanistan ? had to be drafted in to plug the Olympic security gaps.

Then last week, as the Olympic soccer competition kicked off, organizers mistakenly displayed the South Korean flag on a jumbo screen while introducing the North Korean women's team. There could hardly have been a worse mix-up ? the two countries are still technically at war.

Britons, at least, are quick to see the humor. Opticians Specsavers ran a full-page ad displaying the two completely different-looking Korean flags and suggesting that anyone who can't tell the difference should stop by for a checkup.

Then Welsh footballer Joe Allen was listed as English in the British team's official program, prompting a wave of mocking commentary across Twitter.

Over the weekend, television shots of so many empty seats at Olympic venues enraged many ordinary Britons, who had struggled for months to get tickets, many unsuccessfully.

Organizers are now scrambling to fill rows of empty seats allocated but not used by members of the "Olympic family" ? national federations, sponsors and the media. Among the remedies: 150 British soldiers were told to stop handling security duties for a few hours Sunday and go watch the Olympic qualifying for women's gymnastics.

"I was told to let the boys come in and enjoy the show," Staff Sgt. Marc Robson of the 29 Commando Regiment Royal Artillery told The Associated Press. "Look at them, they seem to be liking it just fine."

Ellis Cashmore, professor of culture, media and sport at Staffordshire University, said the sheer number of Olympic errors has had a numbing effect.

"It's almost as if we've become anesthetized to them," he said. "It's almost as if we're expecting another gaffe.

"If everything had gone smoothly up till now, (the missing keys) would be a catastrophe. Losing they keys to the stadium! If you lose your house keys, it's a major crisis."

The farcical moments started more than a year before the games, when the official Olympic countdown clock was unveiled in London's Trafalgar Square ? and promptly broke down.

On Friday, during a mass celebratory bell-ringing to mark the start of the games, Olympics Secretary Jeremy Hunt's bell went flying off its handle and narrowly avoided a bystander. No one was hurt, but the incident, captured by a TV camera, drew comparisons to Mr. Bean, the accident-prone Englishman created by comedian Rowan Atkinson.

It's fortunate that the British have knack for laughing at their mistakes. That talent for self-deprecation helps explain the popularity of London Mayor Boris Johnson ? a brainy but gaffe-prone politician once forced to apologized to the entire city of Liverpool after accusing its residents of "wallowing" in victimhood.

Putting a positive spin on things, Johnson listed Hunt's bell-ringing clanger as one of the reasons to be cheerful about the Olympics.

"Jeremy Hunt has introduced a new sport to the games, to go with the discus, shot-put, javelin," Johnson wrote in Monday's Daily Telegraph. "It is bell-whanging. ... The rules have yet to be codified ? there is still a dispute about whether you get extra points for hitting a spectator ? but you can be sure they will be codified in London."

In this new age of social media ? and with the eyes of the world on London ? more blunders are inevitable, Cashmore said.

"I think previous Olympics have been just as marred by security lapses, but now we are so acutely aware of everything that these things are magnified," he said. "We are looking at things microscopically now."

Fantasy Football 2012: Washington Redskins Offense

There is a generation of fans that knows something about the Washington Redskins that I don't, mainly that they were once a fun team to watch. That there was a time when the Redskins were among the league's elite and did things like score points and win games under Joe Gibbs. However, for me the Redskins have been one of the most boring teams in the league, and that all culminated with the 2011 quarterback competition between Rex Grossman and John Beck. I'd say that aptly summarizes how I've felt about the Redskins (a team that hasn't finished with a top 10 offense since 1999 and hasn't done it consistently since the late eighties and early nineties) over the last decade.

They're a constant competition between Grossman and Beck. Washington hasn't just been underwhelming, they've been whelming. "Oh, the Redskins? They've got... well, they still have.... wait, who do they have?"

The Redskins seemed to have taken the easy route on finding a franchise quarterback after they won a Super Bowl with Mark Rypien. Drafting the likes of Patrick Ramsey or Jason Campbell, and not trying to make that big splash at the top of the draft. Until now.

The Robert Griffin move was something I would have never expected out of Washington and Mike Shanahan, but they did it and they paid a dear price for it. They won't be drafting much on day one over the next couple of years, but the addition of Griffin and receiver Pierre Garcon will make them something that I never thought they were:

Watchable.

Robert Griffin III

Last season the Redskins had to worst QB camp battle of recent memory when they pitted the career-disappointment Rex Grossman versus Beck, who hadn't played in years. It's the exact opposite feeling of excitement at the position this year as the Redskins went all-in on RG3. They won't have their own first round pick again until 2015 because of it, but I believe that it was worth it. In hindsight, would you have let your team traded 3 1st's and a 2nd for Cam Newton? I sure would have. Franchise QBs are hard to find.

Can Griffin compare to that?

Well, I thought that Newton was a bit overrated coming out of Auburn and was forced to not only eat those words, but do a complete 180. Newton is going to have an incredible career. But I still like Griffin more, coming out of college at least. He's an elite talent athletically and shows elite character. If you're going to go all-in on a QB prospect, I understand why it's Griffin. It's really hard for me to take a stab at what RG3 will do this year, but I'll give it a shot. I don't expect the Skins to put too much pressure on Griffin this year and will try to put him in a position to succeed without having to do everything.

2012 Projection: 56% completions, 3,200 yards, 14 TD, 18 INT, 500 yards rushing, 6 TD. Pierre Garcon was a good pickup, but I'd still like to see Griffin get another big weapon first.

Kirk Cousins

When asked about how likely he thought it was that the Redskins would draft him, Cousins had said, "Out of 32 teams, they were probably 32nd." Makes sense to all of us too, right? With Griffin drafted and already having traded away their second round pick, it seems highly unlikely that Washington would use its third pick in the draft on another QB, but what has ever made sense with Mike Shanahan?

Well, it makes sense if the Skins are correct in their assessment that Cousins is going to be an NFL starter, even if it's not with them. He provides Griffin insurance, but if he displays playmaking ability in pre-season or as a backup, Washington can flip a guy that they drafted in the fourth for who-knows-what.

And then Grossman has to fight a 4th round rookie for a backup job to a starter job that was his just last season.

Roy Helu

Good luck figuring this situation out, especially before August. I like Helu the most out of the three, but that doesn't mean much. I'm not entirely sure that there even will be a "starter" by anything more than technicality. What I like about Helu is the 49 catches he had last season. He had an even 200 touches for a little over 1,000 total yards in 15 games.

Tim Hightower

He started out as the starter last year and then lost it. I just don't get why Hightower would be above Helu on the depth chart, but it could happen.

Evan Royster

Royster is the dark horse, the sleeper, the wild card. He had 5.9 yards per carry on 56 attempts, and while he isn't exceptionally fast, he's deceptive. He's not the name that a lot of people are going to know about, but he could come out of this as the starter.

2012 Projection: Hell if I know. This has committee stamped all over it and the Redskins are STILL going to look to veteran free agency depending on how everybody looks in pre-season and Hightower's health. Something in my gut tells me that Royster is going to be a good pickup this year.

Pierre Garcon

It was always assumed that receivers in Indy got a boost from Peyton Manning (and of course they did) but Garcon posted career-highs in catches and yards with a bunch of no-names last season. I think he's been a very underrated free agent pickup this year and I like what I see when I watch Garcon play. He could post career-highs again with Griffin, a real deal quarterback.

2012 Projection: 75 catches, 1000 yards, 5 TD

Santana Moss

Moss, 33, posted his worst numbers since 2002 when he was a part-time second year player with the Jets. He also didn't have much of a quarterback to work with. His full-time fantasy days are over, but he could have a couple of nice games.

2012 Projection: 45 catches, 500 yards, 3 TD

Josh Morgan

The Redskins gave Morgan a 5-year contract and while he doesn't look like anything special, he might be ahead of Moss at this point. I just don't know that I'd give him much of a chance on my team. He played in five games with the 49ers last year and then was lost for the season. He had 220 yards in those games and was looking like he'd repeat his near-700 yard 2010 season.

2012 Projection: 50 catches, 650 yards, 3 TD

Leonard Hankerson

He's my sleeper pick for the Redskins but I'm not sure how healthy he'll be this season and how long it will take him to get acclimated to game speed. He might be a better player to keep an eye on later in the year, but I do think he's interesting long term.

2012 Projection: 25 catches, 350 yards, 1 TD

TE

Fred Davis

He broke out for almost 800 yards last year but only caught three touchdowns. I expect Griffin to use his tight ends, but also to use both of his tight ends. Cooley played in just five games and if I can't predict injuries, then I can't predict that Davis will repeat 800 yards. I feel safer staying away from Davis or Cooley until we get closer to the season.

Chris Cooley

He is entering his ninth season with the Redskins and is coming off the shortest season of his career, in which he had 65 yards in five games. I'm not ready to say that Cooley's days as a receiving tight end are over and so I'm not ready to declare Davis as a premium TE1.

2012 Projection: Davis tops 700 yards and Cooley chips in 400.

Scientists Uncover Gene Variation Linked to Melanoma

SUNDAY, July 29 (HealthDay News) -- New gene mutations associated with the development of melanoma have been identified by scientists who conducted what is believed to be the largest DNA-sequencing study of the deadly disease to date.

Melanoma accounts for the vast majority of skin cancer deaths. The main cause of melanoma is excessive exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun.

The Yale Cancer Center team used DNA-sequencing technologies to analyze 147 melanomas originating on both sun-exposed and sun-shielded sites on patients' bodies. They found a large number of UV-induced mutations in sun-exposed melanomas, but most of these are "passenger" mutations that don't have a functional role in melanoma.

"We devised a mathematical model to sort out the relevant DNA alterations from over 25,000 total mutations," lead study author Michael Krauthammer, an associate professor of pathology, said in a Yale news release.

The researchers pinpointed a mutation in the RAC1 gene that speeds growth and movement in normal skin pigment cells, which are where melanoma begins. The mutation likely occurs at an early stage of melanoma development and promotes cancer cell growth and spread to other sites in the body, they said.

The RAC1 mutation was found in about 9 percent of melanomas from sun-exposed skin. It is the third-most frequent mutation after previously identified BRAF and NRAS mutations. Because the RAC1 mutation is so common, it would be worthwhile to develop treatments that target it, the researchers added.

They also identified mutations that disable proteins that suppress tumors.

The study was published online July 29 in the journal Nature Genetics.

In the United States, about 76,000 new cases of melanoma will be diagnosed this year and about 9,000 people will die of the disease, according to the American Cancer Society.

Johnson dominant at Indy, wins 4th Brickyard 400

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) ? Startled awake by an earsplitting fireworks blast at 6 a.m., then annoyed by an early morning sound check session by the band that was playing the prerace show, Jimmie Johnson's day at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway didn't exactly get off to a winning start.

It ended just fine, though ? with Johnson making plenty of noise of his own.

Johnson stamped another exclamation point on his racing resume Sunday, a dominant drive that ended with his fourth career Brickyard 400 victory.

Afterward, Johnson was able to laugh about how annoyed he was by the aerial bomb blast that signaled to fans that the track's gates were open ? so annoyed, in fact, that he complained about it with a post on his Twitter account.

"I thought the motorhome next to me blew up," Johnson said. "I was looking for a fire extinguisher to put out the fire. I guess getting up earlier than I wanted to let me prepare for the day and get ready."

Johnson said he got over it quickly, and that he respects that the big boom is part of the track's tradition.

And he'd better respect Indy tradition, because he's now a big part of it.

With the win, Johnson joined Hendrick Motorsports teammate Jeff Gordon as the only NASCAR drivers to win four times at the historic 2.5-mile track, which has hosted stock car racing since 1994.

The victory also puts Johnson among some top names in the track's record books.

Only three drivers have won four Indianapolis 500s: A.J. Foyt, Rick Mears and Al Unser Sr.

Formula One ace Michael Schumacher won the U.S. Grand Prix five times on Indy's road course configuration.

"I'm able to join racing legends, my heroes and people I looked up to my entire life," Johnson said. "To join them was a huge, huge honor."

Johnson took it all in after the race, taking a victory lap in a pace car with his wife, his daughter and his crew guys all piled on board.

"You can actually soak in the moment, and look around and realize that you're at the Brickyard ? and won ? was really special," Johnson said.

And while his daughter, Genevieve, enjoyed playing with a microphone during Johnson's post race news conference, they couldn't convince her to join in as they completed the tradition of kneeling to kiss the yard of bricks at the start/finish line.

"She wasn't into it," Johnson joked.

Johnson also won the Brickyard in 2006, 2008 and 2009.

"They're that good, and they deserve it," Gordon said.

Kyle Busch finished second, followed by Greg Biffle, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Gordon. Pole sitter Denny Hamlin was sixth.

Nobody had a car capable of challenging Johnson, who led 99 of 160 laps.

"It didn't really matter if you were in front of him or not, he was going to pass you in about four or five laps anyway," Biffle said. "His car was just really, really good."

Team owner Rick Hendrick said the win was a testament to the combined talents of Johnson and crew chief Chad Knaus.

"I think the equipment is so equal today, but you've got to look at the talent Jimmie has and the talent Chad has and the pit crew and everything else, the feedback, the communications," Hendrick said. "I've never seen a guy that could drive a car as out of control and make it look in control as Jimmie can."

And as the No. 48 team celebrated a victory, another Hendrick driver solidified his surprising status as a Sprint Cup championship front-runner.

With his fourth-place run Sunday, Earnhardt Jr. took over the points lead ? 14 points ahead of Matt Kenseth, whose day ended early in a crash with Joey Logano.

"We've persevered all year, and we've done good work all year," Earnhardt said. "I think it is a bit of a confidence booster, something I'm proud of because we've worked hard all year and we've got something to show for it."

Earnhardt took the points lead at the expense of Kenseth, whose car was banged-up and smoldering after he tangled with Logano.

"It is crazy there at the end," Kenseth said. "You could see the wreck happening and I was just hoping I wasn't going to be in it."

It also was a rough day for Carl Edwards, whose engine began losing power only a handful of laps into the race.

In his first race with new crew chief Chad Norris, Edwards qualified second but began dropping in the field after an apparent engine malfunction. Edwards finished 29th, left Indianapolis 12th in the points and is in danger of missing NASCAR's season-ending Chase.

"We have to take chances," Edwards said. "We have to go race. We can do that, we can race like that. It will actually be a big relief in a way because there is no other choice. We just go race for wins. I wouldn't bet against us. We can do it."
